Yesterday, we had our Women Who Arise Summit, and I just know that so many of you ladies running online Christian businesses are walking away with so much fullness and so much healing. Every time we do the Women Who Arise Summit, it’s just such a perfect online retreat, and you ladies walk away feeling so, so full. I honestly don’t think we have enough of that in life, right?

It’s almost like our systems have to constantly walk through healing. We have to keep walking through nervous system regulation and clearing our minds, so we don’t get off track, and that is really hard when you’re living in the world and owning an online business.

You have responsibilities. You might also have children, maybe a family you’re the caretaker for, maybe a day job, maybe a husband, and there is always someone and something to take care of. Yesterday was a day for you guys, and it got me thinking about why you need a sanctuary to become the set-apart CEO that God called you to be.

Why a Sanctuary Works Like an Incubator for the Calling God Gave You

At the end of the day, a sanctuary is kind of like an incubator. Imagine you’re a baby chick getting the warmth you need from the heat lamp, so you can grow and flourish and thrive. You’re getting the rest, the respite, and the comfort that helps you grow into a thriving chicken, right?

I think of a sanctuary as an incubator because it gives you the space to grow, the space to get the nourishment you need, and the space to feel comforted. When I think about a “sanctuary” through a Biblical lens, I think about sitting in your church building while the Lord speaks to you and fills you with His presence. You have that peace… almost like nothing can go wrong, like you’re “retreating” with the Lord.

That leads me into our monthly program, The Sanctuary, which is essentially the online business retreat for Christian women that you need every month. It’s a place for you to be in the incubator, and here is what you get inside:

Why Building an Online Business Requires Stillness and How It Becomes Your Competitive Edge

One of the reasons you need a sanctuary regularly is that building an online business honestly requires stillness. And this is so hard for me!

I think with AI, everything is vying for your attention. When I just get peace and quiet, I can work on the inner things and hear from the Lord, and that really helps recenter me.

You have to pause long enough to think, and those Selah moments come when you pause and pray. I think this is getting so hard with AI because we have this instant gratification culture, where I don’t even have to think about my own ideas and can just pop it into the computer and get fifty ideas.

The other option is to ask God directly, “Lord, what do you want me to do? How do you want me to sit with you and dream this up with you?” That question is where a Holy Spirit-led online business gets built.

I just want to encourage you that the moments you spend in the stillness are where your best work comes from. That’s what’s going to sustain you as the online business world keeps changing, and it feels like everyone else is doing so much while you’re feeling unequipped or not capable. The stillness is going to be your competitive edge.

Sometimes when I’m feeling overwhelmed and anxious, wondering “Can I do this?” or “Can I continue to show up in this?”, I have to discipline myself to be still. It really is a discipline. I have to work on regulating my nervous system, calming my mind, and experiencing regular inner healing.

If triggering thoughts and emotions come up, I have to sit still enough to actually process them and close the loops, so I can show up well in my online business. And sometimes this stuff is sneaky. You don’t even realize you’re holding on to things you shouldn’t be or that fear is what’s driving you or that you’re feeling really anxious.

If you’ve been in online business long enough, you know that sometimes you just get triggered, or you get scared when you see a certain type of communication from a client and your nervous system goes straight into fight or flight. You have to retrain your mind, heal your triggers, and experience real inner healing for Christian women in online business, so you can show up from the place where the Lord wants you.

It’s kind of like the sanctification process, where you’re constantly getting rid of the things that keep you in a place of anxiety, dysregulation, or hurt. But how are you going to deal with that if you can’t even recognize it? This is why building an online business truly requires stillness, and when I think of a sanctuary, I think of stillness.

Why Creativity Flows From a Sanctuary and Helps You Prioritize What Matters

Whenever I am still and fully present in what I’m doing, it brings back my creative juices. It also helps me prioritize what I should actually be focusing on.

Just this last week, I spent a week in Grand Lake, Colorado, which is right next to Estes Park and Rocky Mountain National Park. It’s a beautiful big lake, and we brought my boat up. We were there for Constitution Week, and my mom had this crazy big “America 250” exhibit that she and my dad were setting up and taking down each day (which I definitely helped with too).

Honestly, we were there for the Constitution Week activities and just to get away, be on the boat, and walk through the small town. The Aspens have been changing with the seasons, and fall in Colorado is just stunning. The kids were up there most of the week, and then my husband came up and took them back down, so I got a couple of days where I was working on some of my own stuff and got some peace and quiet.

I actually didn’t work too much, but the things I did work on felt like I was in the midst of an in-person retreat. I was working on messaging, copywriting, and building a sales page, and I just needed that silence to think and dream up the next experience I’m working on for my clients. So much creativity was flowing because the mountains were the sanctuary.

In the midst of all this, I was chatting with my parents, hanging out with the kids, eating ice cream, and spending time on the boat. I also did a puzzle! Oh my goodness, this puzzle was so hard. We bought it up there at a little thrift shop, and it was a picture of a puppy that was basically two colors: mint green and brown for the puppy. So many times I thought there was no way I was going to finish it, and I went through multiple rounds of frustration.

But I kept working on it, kept trucking away, and kept being present in the moment, and we’re about 85% finished now! We even lost a puzzle piece at one point, and I found it right before we left, so I was very excited about that.

All that to say, I had time to sit down and do a puzzle, and I had time to be immersed in the building, the creating, and the strategizing. Doing something that simple helped my creativity flow.

We can’t all just go up to the mountains for a week at the drop of a hat, and I get that. As your Christian Online Business Coach, I still want you to hear this: when you intentionally create the environment of a sanctuary around you, your creativity will flow, and your online business will thank you for it.

The longer I’ve been an entrepreneur, the more I realize that when I live life in a natural, present way, the better it is for my online business. I think that’s God’s heart for us. He doesn’t want your online business to consume you all the time; He wants you to be a person, and He wants you to have that stillness–that quiet–and that sanctuary where your creativity can flow.

Why Fullness Is the Secret to Building a Legacy in Your Online Business

Lastly, ladies, fullness is actually the secret to legacy building, and you can build fullness within the structure of a sanctuary. This is what my whole online program, The Sanctuary, is built on. We build off of our growth in terms of a fullness equation, and it comes from 2 Peter 1:5-7.

To build from a place of fullness, we actually have to diagnose where there is a lack of fullness. How are we going to do that? We’re going to sit in a sanctuary that allows us to gain awareness of where we need to grow.

The verse has a strategy to building fullness when it says to make every effort to add to your faith, and it goes like this:

• Add goodness to your faith
• Add knowledge to goodness
• Add self-control to knowledge
• Add perseverance to self-control
• Add godliness to perseverance
• Add mutual affection to godliness
• Add love to mutual affection

God has given us a secret strategy–a secret formula really–for fullness and for operating at our best. And how are we going to grow in this area? It takes a sanctuary to grow that fullness.

Let’s say you’re having a knowledge issue. In your online business, that might mean you have clarity on what you actually want to do, but you don’t have the skill set to do it, so you have to go learn the skills. But then, how’s my mind, body, and spirit? Do I have the knowledge to rewire my brain and handle my emotions and thoughts in a way that helps me operate from a place of knowledge?

Do I have knowledge of my hormones and what’s going on in my body, so I can feel good every day, maybe by implementing a supplement protocol? Do I know what’s going on in my nervous system every time I feel anxious and overwhelmed at the thought of doing something technology-related?

This is the coolest structure, and you learn so much more about it inside The Sanctuary. You can diagnose where you are in the fullness process, where you’re struggling with faith, goodness, knowledge, self-control, perseverance, godliness, mutual affection, and love. And you can use it not only personally, but to figure out what you’re struggling with in your faith-based online business.

If you can build from a place of fullness, which you need a sanctuary to even focus on, you can heal and become the set-apart CEO who is able to carry the weight and responsibility of what God has called you to do in your online business. It’s not just being overwhelmed with all the things. It’s understanding what’s going on in your mind, body, spirit, and emotions, so you can show up well and execute.

I feel like I’m just scratching the surface here, but my big question is this: how can you work on fullness and understand these things about yourself if you’re not in a sanctuary that creates the environment for you to walk through them?
