Hey, hey guys! Welcome to today’s episode. We’re diving into a hot topic that’s been making waves: trust in the coaching industry. Trust is at an all-time low, and I’ve heard countless stories about people feeling scammed or disappointed. I’ve got so many thoughts on this, and I can’t wait to share them with you. Let’s go!
Trust Issues in the Coaching Industry
This is something I keep hearing—trust in the coaching industry is at an all-time low. You see people talking about how they got scammed, lost money, or felt let down by online courses and programs. I think it’s more about people not having discernment and falling for high-pressure tactics than it is about coaches selling programs. There are bad programs out there, but a lot of the distrust comes from people who didn’t do the work or had unrealistic expectations.
The Importance of Deeper Discernment
We are in a season where deeper discernment is crucial. People need to be more careful about who they trust and invest in. I always emphasize the importance of doing your research and praying for guidance before making any big decisions in your business. High-pressure sales tactics are everywhere, but you have to know your values and stick to them.
Authentic Marketing Matters
I believe we are seeing a rise in authentic marketers. Those who are genuine and transparent in their approach are the ones who will make it long-term. It’s about building trust through honesty and integrity.
I get that people don’t want to be tricked with marketing. I try to share real processes, but the reality is, part of marketing is talking about results and transformation. As a Christian Business Coach, I make sure to align my marketing with my values. This attracts clients who are also aligned with those values, creating a community of like-minded individuals.
Responsibility and Accountability
One major issue I see is people looking for someone to blame for their poor decisions. They might say, “Boo hoo, I didn’t get rich overnight, and this is much harder than I thought.” The reality is, building a business is hard work, and you have to be willing to put in the effort.
When you invest in your business, you should do so knowing that the investment money is gone. If things went south, you are out of it, and you need to be okay with that. This is why I don’t offer refunds or guarantees because I believe in the importance of commitment. If you’re in my programs, you’re all in. This ensures that my clients are serious about their success and willing to do the work required.
Self-Responsibility in Business
I think a lot of the distrust in the coaching industry comes from people who didn’t do the work. They enrolled in a program, didn’t follow through, and now they’re looking for someone to blame. This mentality is toxic and won’t lead to success.
People want someone to blame for their poor decisions, but no coach can promise that what they will teach you will work for you. You have to be willing to work for those results and learn and optimize. It’s essential to take responsibility for your own success. If you’re called to the coaching space or the online world, you need to understand that it will take perseverance and resilience.
Finding the Right Coach
It’s so important to find a coach who aligns with your values. This is why I’m very selective about who I work with. I want clients who are committed, ready to put in the work, and aligned with my values and beliefs. Finding people who are aligned with your values is so important. This is a huge emphasis in my coaching programs. I want clients who desire to be part of a supportive and value-aligned community.
