As a Christian entrepreneur, you are going to be put to the test constantly in your online business. I think this is something that we honestly forget when we’re building online businesses, ministries, coaching programs, offers, designing sales pages and all the things.
I was reading 1 Corinthians chapter 3 the other day, and something really hit me.
There were a couple things in the scripture that stood out…but more than that, I couldn’t stop thinking about how relevant this is for your business.
Because if you have not been seeing success, if you’ve been struggling to build wealth in your business and things are just not working…if you feel like you’re constantly changing your mind and going from here to here and it’s just not clicking – this is probably why.
As a Christian Business Coach, a Christian Life Coach, or a woman trying to figure out how to build an online coaching business, this is something you have to understand early. Your business and your character will be put through the fire and tested – and in order to succeed, you have to commit to putting your all in it.
What 1 Corinthians 3 Taught Me About Building an Online Business That Lasts
As Christians in online business, and just being a Christian in general, we are going to be put through the fire, and the only way to overcome is to build on a solid foundation – God’s foundation.
God plants the seed, we water and he makes it grow. I think sometimes we just want to strive and strive and strive, like we’re trying to force something to happen.
But at the end of the day, we can’t necessarily push outcomes. What we can do is water. We can water really, really well. We can be diligent, consistent, and actually learn how to do this thing properly. And then God is the one who makes it grow.
We are God’s cultivated garden and vineyard, and Jesus is the ultimate foundation that we have to work off of. If we don’t have a solid foundation in Him, we are gonna struggle in our faith-based online businesses.
The Quality of Your Work Will Be Revealed When It’s Tested
When I read this verse, I truly felt like God dropped this for me…
“If anyone builds on this foundation using gold, silver, costly stones, wood, hay or straw, their work will be shown for what it is, because the Day will bring it to light. It will be revealed with fire, and the fire will test the quality of each person’s work.” – 1 Corinthians 3:12–13 (NIV)
When I read that, I immediately thought about online business. Because that’s exactly what happens when you step into the online space. You can build something in private, you can feel excited about it, you can think it’s amazing…but the second it goes live, it gets tested.
Did you actually give your all…or do you know, deep down, you could have done better?
Because at the end of the day, it all gets put to the test.
So ladies, I don’t say that to scare you – I say that to encourage you. Because what you’re building matters. And I think sometimes we try to hold a little back or stay in what feels comfortable, but if you truly want to build something that lasts, you have to be willing to put all of yourself into it.
Why So Many Christian Women in Online Business Stay Stuck
I see people in the online world (and offline) hack-job things all the time, and I see them sow in the wrong place. I want to be really clear – there is grace when you are new and learning and when you’re figuring things out…
But at the same time, I see work ethics behind women in online business sometimes that are just, “get it done and do it for me… I don’t really care, I just want it done,” instead of, “I’m going to put my heart, soul, energy into making this really, really good.”
Because if you’re building an online coaching business for Christian women and you’re not actually putting you all in it with thought, care, and intention into what you’re creating – it will get exposed.
The Work Ethic Required to Build a Coaching Business That Works
To really be a good entrepreneur, you have to be someone who is going to figure things out and make things happen. No one’s going to save you, and no one’s going to do this work for you.
And I think that’s something a lot of women need to hear. Because we want clarity, we want confidence, and we want results – but we don’t always want to sit in the process of refining, adjusting, and actually doing the work.
Scripture is literally saying the quality of your work is going to show what it is. So if you hack-job something in your online business and you don’t care about it – you don’t put that energy and that heart, mind, and soul into creating something intentional, you’re never going to see success.
You have to show up, do the work with excellence, and actually put your all into it.
What Gets Exposed When Your Business Is Put to the Test
I see this so clearly when I’m helping clients with sales pages, landing pages, ad copy, and creative. There is no discrimination on this. Either your stuff is good or it’s not – either it will convert or it will not.
If someone sends me a landing page with two sentences and there’s no purpose to it, that’s going to be put to the test. If someone sends ad creative where there’s no thought behind it, that’s going to be put to the test.
And then what happens? It doesn’t convert, they waste money on ads, and they feel frustrated.
Or if they have a fluffy offer, or everything they do is AI, that’s going to be put to the test too. This is why digital marketing for Christian entrepreneurs is not just about doing more – it’s about doing things well.
Launching Without an Audience Will Be Tested Too
This is another big one. When you launch a program out into the world and you have no audience, that’s also going to be put to the test.
You can build the best thing in the world, but if you don’t actually build the audience that’s going to look at your offer, that will be revealed. And I see this all the time with women who are excited to launch but haven’t taken the time to build visibility or trust yet.
So all that to say, we should be going into everything we do with excellence – with the mindset of… I’m going to put my whole mind, heart, and soul into this.
Why the Time You Spend Building Well Is Never Wasted
I recently went through the launch of The Sanctuary, which is our newest monthly membership program – and I probably spent 40 hours building out that sales page.
I know some people hear that and think that’s too much. But that time is not wasted. If you spend that time building something well, you will likely reap the reward of all that time spent for years and years.
And when The Sanctuary launch was actually put to the test, it converted very, very well. That’s what happens when you build with intention instead of rushing.
This Doesn’t Just Apply to Business – It Applies to Everything
Anything you do will be put to the test. This shows up in friendship, health, employees, relationships, marriage, and children.
If you don’t do any work on something, it’s probably going to crumble. If you don’t do the proper watering, it’s going to show.
And honestly, it kind of puts a little bit of the fear of God in us in a good way – because at the end of the day, it all gets put to the test.
Stop Half-Doing Your Business and Actually Go All In
You can’t half go in. You can’t put your little pinky toe into the pool. You have to do everything as if you were doing it for the Lord, because the quality of what you build will be put to the fire and it will be put to the test.
I have seen so many people go out of business and stop businesses, and a lot of it is because they didn’t build something that could withstand the test. It wasn’t built on a solid foundation or with materials that were going to last.
You don’t have to do this fast, and it’s not always going to be perfect – but you do have to do the work.
No one is coming to rescue you in your online business, and honestly, that’s what makes it so powerful. You get to take ownership – you get to build something real. And if you commit to putting all of yourself into what you’re creating, showing up fully and building on the right foundation – you absolutely can do this, sister.
