Hey, hey ladies. Today we’re chatting about how to design a life of freedom with an online Christian business.
I’m so excited to talk about this topic because my online business has brought our family so much freedom and has allowed us to do things like invest in real estate and have a lot of freedom over our schedule day to day.
It’s not the easiest thing in the world by any means, but if you are looking to launch an online business, I want to show you what that actually looks like and where to get started.
Because a lot of you are wondering…what do I build?
Maybe you have an idea, but it’s not completely clear. Maybe you’re thinking about coaching people or building some type of offer, but you’re still trying to figure out how to actually monetize it.
And I just want to say that you’re not really meant to have it all figured out yet. So don’t feel like it all has to come overnight.
A ton of my students come in not knowing what they are supposed to build. You feel the pull, but you’re not sure of the details or the timing of things.
I have been there in my online business as well. I felt the call, but it just wasn’t God’s timing. The Vision always came before the outcome.
You Will Feel the Pull Before You Understand the Details
Usually where this starts is what I call the calling stage. You are going to feel the pull as a Christian online coach, but you have no idea how it’s all going to play out.
You might feel the pull to get out of the corporate grind, to build something yourself, or to take something that you know and monetize it. That’s exactly what it felt like for me when I started photography. I felt the pull to build something, to serve people, and to step into something that felt creative and aligned.
But I didn’t have the full picture yet.
And in this stage, you’re not going to know how it’s going to work with your life yet. You’re not going to start with money overnight unless you’ve already built an audience, but that doesn’t mean you shouldn’t start…
You absolutely should start, but you should start the right way so you don’t exhaust yourself or exhaust your first audience.
What I’ve seen happen many times is women launching something, then launching something else, then launching something else again, trying to figure it out as they go. And what ends up happening is that the first audience they had gets exhausted because there’s no consistency in what they’re building.
So at this stage, it’s not about rushing. It’s about leaning on God and being intentional with how you move forward.
Your Testimony Is What Leads You Into Business
The next phase is the testimony phase. God has walked you through something, and that is not random. You have a testimony, and most likely there is something in that testimony that is going to lead you into the business you are meant to build.
And I actually experienced this back in 2017 before I launched my online business. It was right after having our second baby and I started dabbling with creating a community for women. I knew I wanted to help moms who were balancing business or work, but I could not figure out how to monetize it. I remember thinking through blogging, affiliate marketing, building an audience…and nothing really landed.
But looking back, I can see that the Lord was using that season to spur something in me, even though I wasn’t ready to build it yet.
About a year later, it became clear that I was supposed to help women build photography businesses, and that was the first real step into what I do today.
When I stepped into my first online business, I was helping photographers build businesses because that was the breakthrough I had experienced. Now, I help Holy Spirit-led women build online businesses and signature offers, and inside of that, I help women set other women free.
Usually, you are going to help someone in a space where you have seen a breakthrough.
That’s what makes this so powerful, because the gospel is about sharing what God has done in your life so that someone else can experience that same transformation.
If You Are Going to Build This, You Have to Monetize It
The next step is monetization. You feel called, you have a testimony, and now you have to figure out how to actually monetize it. And this is where I think a lot of Christian women in business struggle, because they just want to serve and help people, which is beautiful, but if you are going to build a business, it has to make money.
At the end of the day, it’s not worth your time to take on the responsibility of building something, marketing it, and running it if it’s not producing income. Otherwise, you might just be called to volunteer or support something that already exists.
Typically, there is money in health, wealth, and relationships. Faith and mindset are important, but there usually needs to be a tangible outcome. People are not just buying the idea of renewing their mind, even though that is important. They are buying outcomes like feeling peace, having confidence in their finances, or having healthier relationships.
So when you’re thinking about your offer, you have to think about what is the tangible outcome that someone is going to experience.
Here are a few things to keep in mind when monetizing your business:
- You need a clear outcome that people actually want
- You are solving a real problem that someone is willing to invest in
- You are building something that can sustain your time and energy
Because this is not just a hobby. This is something that requires leadership and stewardship.
Freedom Comes From Building This the Right Way
What I love about online business is that it allows you to design your life. Because of my business, I’ve been able to travel, homeschool my kids, invest in real estate, and build a life that works for our family.
While I’m recording this I’m getting ready to travel for almost two weeks, going from Florida to Tampa to New York, and my business will still be running, while only working a couple hours here and there.
The blessing is… I have the freedom to be present in my life while still running my business. That is what’s possible when you build something that actually works.
At the same time, I think it’s really important to talk about online business sustainability. I really like my life right now, and I don’t want a crazy big team or something that feels overwhelming. I would rather have something that is simple, profitable, and allows me to stay connected to my clients.
Inside my programs, women are not just a number. I know them, I know their families, and I know what they are walking through. And that is because I have intentionally built something that is sustainable.
So as you are thinking about building your business, you have to ask yourself:
- Do I feel called to this?
- What is the testimony that is driving this?
- How am I going to monetize this in a real way?
- What does sustainability look like for my life and my family?
Because you don’t want to build something just to hit a number and then realize you don’t actually enjoy what you built.
You’re Not Just Building a Business – You’re Stewarding a Calling
At the end of the day, this is not just about building a business. It’s about how you steward what God has given you and build something that actually supports your life.
I look back and there are things I would do differently, but I can also say that because I built from a place of sustainability, so much of what I had vision for has actually come to fruition. It hasn’t been perfect and it hasn’t always been easy, but I was wise in how I structured things from the beginning.
And that’s what I want for you.
You don’t have to have it all figured out to start, but you do have to be willing to step into it and build it the right way with the Lord.
If you’re ready for that, we walk through all of it inside Set-Apart Launch – the messaging, the marketing, the pricing, and even the warfare that comes up when you’re building something like this.
