Hey girl, hey!
Let’s get real for a second. You feel the pull. You know God has placed something on your heart – a dream, a vision, a calling – but the details still feel fuzzy. You’ve got a million ideas running through your head…blog, coaching, courses, ministry resources, online business…but you’re stuck wondering how to actually turn it into something sustainable.
I know that place because I’ve been there. Back in 2017, right after having our second baby, I was dabbling with an online community for moms. I built a Facebook group, started a blog, even grew a couple hundred women. But here’s the thing – I had no idea how to monetize it. It was fun, but it wasn’t a business. And eventually, I let it fade.
But God had planted a seed. Just a year and a half later, I went all in. I closed my photography business and launched my first online program, teaching photographers how to build their businesses. And that’s when everything changed.
The Calling Comes Before the Clarity
One of the biggest lessons I’ve learned as a Christian Life Coach and Christian Business Coach is that visions always come before the outcome. God will stir something in you long before you understand how it fits into your life.
That’s why so many of my students come into my programs not knowing exactly what to build. They know they’re called, but they don’t know how to package it. And that’s okay. The calling stage isn’t about having all the answers – it’s about being willing to move forward even when the path isn’t fully clear.
Your Testimony Is the Foundation
Here’s the deal: the gospel is about sharing what God has done in your life so He can do it for others. That means your testimony is the foundation of your business.
For me, it started with entrepreneurship. I grew up with a dad who ran a small business. I walked through a toxic corporate job that broke me down and made me physically ill. I built a photography business from scratch and booked $43,000 of clients in just a few weeks because I figured out a system that worked. All of those experiences became the story that anchored my coaching business.
If you’re wondering how to build a coaching business, the first place to look is your own breakthrough. What has God walked you through? Where have you overcome something hard? That’s usually the very area He’s calling you to lead others in.
Why Monetization Matters
Let’s talk about the money side, because this is where a lot of women get stuck. You absolutely can have a business that’s both ministry and profitable – but you have to be honest about the fact that this is a business.
If you don’t want to deal with marketing, sales, or systems, then volunteering might be the better fit. But if you’re stepping into Christian entrepreneurship, you’ve got to treat it like the living, breathing operation it is.
And when it comes to monetizing your ministry, the areas that thrive online are health, wealth, and relationships. Faith and mindset coaching are powerful, but people also need a tangible outcome. They want to know what’s going to change in their life when they work with you. That’s where the transformation happens – and that’s what people are willing to invest in.
Building a Business That Lasts
The final piece is sustainability. When I hit seven figures, I had to ask myself what kind of business I really wanted. Did I want the giant team and the nonstop grind – or did I want something lean, profitable, and life-giving?
For me, sustainability meant keeping things boutique. That’s why I designed The Selah Collective as a group coaching program where women get hands-on support without getting lost in the shuffle. I work about 10-15 hours a week, homeschool my kids, travel, and live a full life outside of business. That’s possible because I built systems and boundaries from the start.
And this is what I tell my students: success doesn’t look the same for everyone. Some women feel called to build a big, multi-million-dollar business. Others want a smaller, simpler model that leaves more space for family. The key is defining what sustainability looks like for you – and then building in a way that supports that vision.
The Next Step
If God has placed this on your heart, don’t overthink it. You don’t need all the answers to get started. What you do need is to take that first step.
You don’t have to build your business like the world. You get to build it God’s way – boldly, biblically, and sustainably.
