Hey ladies! This is one of those lessons I’ve lived through again and again while building my online business.
There are moments in building an online coaching business when you realize you’ve reached the end of your own strength – when you can no longer carry everything yourself. Over time, I’ve learned these moments aren’t accidental. They’re often the very places where God begins to move, and where true growth happens – when you stop striving and become fully reliant on Him.
Building an online Christian business is not for the faint of heart. It is really hard sometimes. It tests your mind, your body, your spirit, and all of your gaps. As a believer, it can feel even heavier because you are not called to build like the world. You are called to build the way the Lord has called you to build, with a different standard of morals and ethics.
You are called to build with excellence.
And it’s one of the reasons building a faith-based online business can feel so intense and so sanctifying at the same time.
What Building Wealth in an Online Business Really Requires
When you’re building an online coaching business, there’s often a long stretch where you have to show up without seeing much in return. Especially early on, it usually takes a solid year of investing before you start to see the fruit. That doesn’t mean you’re doing it wrong; it’s simply the work that has to happen before the return shows up.
This means:
- Showing up consistently without immediate results.
- Doing the right, strategic work, not just posting and praying.
- Having the emotional, mental, and spiritual resolve to keep going even when it’s hard.
Most people quit here. But women who are truly called learn how to keep going and stick it out. You’re called to serve and to show up with the self-discipline and self-control God has already given you.
And then there comes a point, after you’ve shown up faithfully, where effort is no longer the issue. You realize you’re out of your own strength, and it really has to be the Lord who makes it grow.
“But remember the Lord your God, for it is He who gives you the ability to produce wealth, and so confirms His covenant, which He swore to your ancestors, as it is today.” Deuteronomy 8:18 (NIV)
This doesn’t excuse passivity. You still have to show up, give the effort, and steward what God has entrusted you with. But there’s also a point where you reach the end of your own strength, and the only way to truly grow is to surrender. It’s at this point of surrender where you get to see God move – where you see that with man it is impossible, but with God all things are possible.
The First Time I Reached the End of My Strength
The first time I reached this point was when I launched my online business. I had closed down my photography business and was nine months pregnant with my third baby. I was just about to pop and completely out of my own strength. I knew I could not keep going on my own, but I also felt the Lord calling me to launch.
I was like, “God, I am going to launch this idea You gave me, but I have no strength for this right now. You are going to have to be the one who makes this thing work.”
That launch ended up bringing in twenty thousand dollars. It was one of the easiest launches I have ever done, not because I had energy or momentum, but because God moved when I stopped trying to carry it myself.
The Second Time Came Two Years Later
I had launched online, but the offer was not structured well. Clients were trickling in, ads were converting a little, but the breakthroughs were not there.
I was also taking an income hit compared to my local photography business and felt overwhelmed by how much effort I was putting in without seeing the return.
In 2020, I paused. I shifted my messaging and went all-in on my niche. That was when I fully moved into the Christian online coaching business space. I really started being honest about why I was in business and began selling programs and building faith-based communities. For me, it was a complete heart change.
I ended up totally rebuilding my offer, turning it into a group coaching program, and getting very specific about my messaging.
Then I took a huge risk…
I decided I was going to spend ten thousand dollars on ads and see what would happen. I had built the structure with as much excellence as I could in that season and I surrendered to what the Lord was calling me to, and I got to the point where I just said, “God, this has to be You again.”
I put all my cards on the table and asked God to bless it and make it grow if it was from Him. But if it didn’t work, I knew that was a clear sign that I wasn’t supposed to be doing it anymore.
That launch ended up bringing in eighty-five thousand dollars. It came after an extremely difficult personal season where I was stripped emotionally and spiritually and fully aware that this was one hundred percent from Him.
This Is a Pattern That Repeats
These moments of shifting and hearing from God have repeated themselves.
- In 2024, I stepped back and lived off payment plans while focusing on rest and healing.
- In 2025, I rebuilt momentum through discipline and consistency.
- Now in 2026, I am in a season of updating, refining, and surrendering plans again.
The point is simple. God’s plan is absolutely perfect, and He will make it grow if that’s His plan. We just have to put in the work and surrender the rest.
This Is Not a Call to Stop Working
This is not permission to be passive or lazy. We are still called to steward well and to show up with excellence. But we are also not called to strive endlessly or muscle outcomes that are not ours to control.
There comes a moment where our effort has been enough.
At that point, the growth belongs to God, and we get to sit back in awe of how truly amazing He is.
A Permission Slip to Step Back
If something isn’t working in your online business, God will show you. And if He’s asking you to pivot or lay something down, He’ll make that clear too.
So take a moment…This is your permission slip.
Step out of the chaos and step away from trying to do everything. Go back to God and ask again:
“God, I’m doing my best with what I know in this season. If this is Your will, make it grow. If it’s not, make it clear. Take away what’s not from You. Show me what I’ve been missing. I surrender to Your plan.”
There is real freedom in returning to surrender – asking again, listening again, and trusting that God knows exactly what you’re meant to be building right now.
Our whole mission is to be able to finish well, in whatever assignment God has called you to. We make the plans, but He directs the steps.
God makes your business and wealth grow, when you step outside of self-reliance and surrender to His amazingly perfect plan for your online business.
So girl, go do the thing, pray, surrender, check your heart condition – and carry on.
