Hey, hey, guys! I’m really excited to chat about the coaching industry and the online world and how it’s imploding right now. This is something that I’m really excited to chat about. There’s so much chatter, so much fear, and things are just crazy. It’s an election year, the recession is continuing, and people are making decisions out of fear. But today, we’re going to dive into that and explore how we, as Christian business owners, can navigate this chaos.
Listening to God’s Call for Change
Times are tough right now. This year feels almost as unpredictable as 2020. The recession has been ongoing, and it’s making me question so many things. For those of you who don’t know, I built my entire online business during a recession, so it’s always felt perilous. But this time around, things feel different.
I’ve been feeling this pull to revamp things, not just because of the state of the world but because of where the Lord is leading me. When God speaks, you just know. It’s undeniable. I’ve had to surrender what I want for what He wants to do in this next season. This involved making some hard decisions and letting go of things I loved, like certain structures in my business, to step into what He’s calling me to do now.
For instance, we started homeschooling our kids this past year, which was a significant lifestyle change but so rewarding. This change has also influenced how I structure my coaching programs. I feel called to invest more of my one-on-one energy into my family, which means adjusting my business operations to make that possible. Simplifying my business processes has been crucial in this season.
Navigating Economic Shifts
As many of you know, I went on a sabbatical and taking the pressure off was so liberating, and I’ve had time to think about what needs to change in my business and life. We’ve updated the Selah Collective, our 12-month group coaching program for Holy Spirit-led coaches and course creators. We’ve also added a three-month accelerated track to meet the current needs of our community.
Offers need to change in this season. If things have slowed down for you, it’s a sign to reevaluate. For me, this season hasn’t been slow, but I felt the need to change for my family’s sake. I’ve been restructuring programs to align with both my family’s needs and the current economic climate. We’re seeing a swing towards lower ticket offers as the first point of contact with customers because people are tighter with their purse strings right now. But don’t be misled—high-ticket programs are still selling well as back-end offers.
This summer, things are low-key, which is a great time to rest a bit. You don’t want to take your foot off the pedal entirely, but use this time to list build and reevaluate your strategies. July is typically slow, so it’s perfect for bumping your ad spend to get more effective leads.
People will buy again, and I believe we’ll see a pre-election spending surge. Buyers will get tired of sitting and waiting. They’ll reach a point where fear no longer stops them. Remember, there’s no recession in a kingdom economy. Crazy times shouldn’t stop you from doing what you’re called to do. Show up every day, make wise decisions, and trust God.
Multiple income streams are essential. Don’t put all your eggs in one basket. If you have a stable job, don’t quit it to jump online until you’re well on your way to replacing your income. It’s challenging to navigate building a business and working a job, but self-discipline is key.
Finally, it’s time to take action. Don’t just gather information—do something with it. If you’re ready to jump in and make things happen, you absolutely can, no matter your circumstances. Vision and hard work go hand in hand. Be a good worker and sow into what God has shown you for this next season.
