One of the biggest lies we tell ourselves is that we need to wait for the perfect timing. That the stars need to align, the kids need to be older, the bank account needs to be full, and our schedules need to be wide open before we take action.
Ladies, let me tell you—that time will never come.
When I started my first online coaching business, it wasn’t because I had everything figured out. I was in a season of transition, I had just had a baby, and honestly, there was a lot of discomfort involved in the shift. But had I waited for everything to be perfect, I wouldn’t be here today.
There will always be challenges. Always reasons to wait. But at some point, you have to decide that your calling is greater than your comfort zone. You have to trust that if God has called you to build an online coaching business, He will equip you along the way.
It Will Always Be Hard to Invest
Can I just be real with you, ladies? Money will always feel like a roadblock. So many women tell me, “Ashley, I’d love to join your program, but I just don’t have the money right now.” And I get it.
But here’s what I’ve learned—investing in yourself and your coaching business is a faith move. It’s an act of stepping out and saying, “Lord, I trust that You have called me to this, and I’m willing to put my resources where my faith is.”
I’m not saying to quit your job overnight and expect to hit six figures instantly. What I am saying is that growing a Christian online business takes strategic sowing. Whether it’s investing in coaching, tools, or even just setting aside dedicated time—what you sow today will dictate where you are tomorrow.
I still remember the first time I made $5K through my online coaching business. It felt like the biggest breakthrough. Then, it was my first $10K month…then $20K months…then $50K months. But had I not invested time, energy, and resources into growing, I wouldn’t have gotten there.
So the question isn’t, “Can I afford to invest?” The real question is, “Can I afford not to?”
God Has Called You to It
This might be the biggest reason of all. If God has put this dream on your heart, why are you talking yourself out of it?
We do this all the time. We feel that fire, that conviction, that pull toward something greater, and then immediately—our minds start finding every excuse possible.
- “Maybe I’m not really called to this.”
- “What if I fail?”
- “I don’t have time.”
- “What will people think?”
But here’s the thing—God doesn’t call the equipped, He equips the called.
You have been anointed to do something in this season. Whether it’s coaching women in their faith, helping moms lose weight in a healthy way, leading inner healing programs, or mentoring others in their own online business—God has already assigned you to this work.
Now, it’s time to develop the discipline to step into it.
What You Do Today Will Shape Your Future
A year from now, you will be either wishing you had started or thanking yourself that you did.
I see so many women stuck in this cycle of “someday.” They feel that calling, they see the vision, but they let fear and doubt keep them in the same place. And before they know it—five years have passed, and they’re still in the same spot.
Think about where you want to be 12 months from now. Do you want to be stuck in the same patterns, wishing you had taken action? Or do you want to be living the reality of the online business God called you to build?
I’m not saying success happens overnight. But I am saying that small, consistent steps today will lead to massive transformation tomorrow.
Why Not? The Worst-Case Scenario Won’t Kill You
Let’s take a moment to ask—what’s the worst that could happen?
- You launch and don’t get clients right away? So what? You learn, you pivot, you try again.
- You put yourself out there and some people don’t get it? That’s okay, the right people will.
- You make an investment and it takes longer than expected to see results? That’s business, sis! Nothing worth having comes easy.
But do you know what the real worst-case scenario is? Staying stuck. Never trying. Never knowing what you could have done if you had just said yes and been consistent.
The truth is, most of the fear we feel is just our pride getting in the way. Fear of failing. Fear of looking like a newbie. Fear of not getting it perfect the first time.
But perfection isn’t required—obedience is.
