As faith-led coaches and course creators, we are building our businesses differently. It’s not about worldly success and having big numbers – we are building set-apart businesses. Are we making up our version of success or are we listening to what God is saying success is? As a Christian Business Coach, I see this happen frequently – for myself and others – When we aren’t where we think we should be, we can experience discouragement and frustration at our lack of perceived progress. But we need to align our expectations with God’s will! Journey with me as we surrender our business, step into where we are called so we can experience a harvest!
HIS TIMING, NOT OURS
When we step into the world of faith and business, our business is not our own – I have done the work and showed up and been obedient to his calling, but God is the one who has allowed it to grow, thrive, and prosper. Sometimes I want it to happen faster and on my terms.There are times I have jumped ahead and didn’t ask for permission, which leaves me frustrated. Thankfully, time is a great teacher and we can get a fresh perspective. When we can obey in the pivots, pauses, and pushes in our business, we can experience God’s blessing in his timing.
FORGETTING TO CELEBRATE SMALL WINS
Even as I am in the scaling phase, it’s easy for me to forget how much I’ve grown since launching a business over 10 years ago. I forget where I started and I can forget to celebrate when I have $10K months. We can be our worst enemies sometimes – because we forget to see how much we’ve grown or to look back at our initial struggles. In remembering, there is grace for ourselves as we learn new things.
CUMULATIVE EFFECTIVE
Be OK with God’s timing – legacies and generational wealth are built over time, with consistent steps. When you look at the big names in the business – Tony Robbins, Amy Porterfield, and Donald Miller have been in the business space for many, many years! Remember where you are right now, and put it on the altar. You aren’t going to stay in the same place forever – continue to show up.
Remember Romans 12:2 “Do not be conformed to this world, but be transformed by the renewal of your mind, that by testing you may discern what is the will of God, what is good and acceptable and perfect.” Remember to be where God is asking you to be in your business, and to constantly be surrendering it over to God.
