Hey, hey guys! Welcome to today’s episode!
Have you ever felt completely misunderstood?
Like you’re pouring your heart into your content, your coaching calls, your offers…and still, people just don’t seem to get it. They don’t fully understand what you do or how you help, and you’re left wondering if maybe you’re just not communicating it right as an online faith-based entrepreneur.
When Your Message Doesn’t Land
Oh girl, I’ve been there – more times than I can count. And it’s one of the most frustrating places to be, especially when your heart is pure, your message is godly, and you’re doing the best you can.
There’s a concept I learned years ago that changed the way I think about communication in every area of life – business, marriage, ministry, all of it. It’s called the sender-receiver model of communication, and once you understand it, you’ll never look at your words the same way again.
The Sender & The Receiver
Basically, we all play two roles. We’re senders and receivers. The sender’s job is to share a message clearly – like sending a radio signal across the airwaves. But the receiver’s job is to interpret it correctly. Sounds easy, right? Except it’s not, because both sides come with filters. We all carry past experiences, insecurities, wounds, pride, fear…all the stuff that colors the way we speak and the way we hear.
You can say something with love and truth, but if the person on the other end is listening through offense or rejection, they’ll twist it without even realizing it. And the opposite is true too – someone can lovingly correct you, but if you’re filtering it through insecurity or defensiveness, you’ll hear it completely wrong.
Communication Happens Everywhere
I see this all the time as an online Christian Business Coach. It happens between coaches and clients, team members, business partners, even in families. Miscommunication is one of the biggest reasons people get frustrated, confused, or lose trust. And it’s not because anyone’s bad at talking – it’s because we’re not stopping to check the filters.
Communication Is a Spiritual Skill
I really believe communication isn’t just a business skill; it’s a spiritual skill. Proverbs tells us that life and death are in the power of the tongue. Every caption you write, every coaching call you host, every message you send – it all carries weight. Our words can bring life or confusion. And when you’re a Christian Life Coach or, your words represent something much bigger than you. They carry the Kingdom.
So if you’ve been wondering why people aren’t buying, why your content isn’t connecting, or why you feel misunderstood in your business – maybe it’s not your strategy. Maybe it’s your communication. If your message is fuzzy, people won’t move. If your delivery is unclear, clients won’t know what to expect. But when you communicate with confidence, clarity, and compassion, everything changes. People start to understand. They lean in. They connect.
Serving Your Words on the Right Platter
A few years ago, my pastor walked my husband and me through a concept that really stuck with me: Are your words being served on the right platter? That truth hit me hard, because I’m naturally a direct communicator. I like efficiency. I want to get to the point and move forward. But not everyone receives directness the same way. Over the years, I’ve learned to slow down and serve my words with intention – sometimes softening the tone, sometimes adding warmth, and sometimes just pausing to make sure I’m not reacting out of emotion.
And I’ve also learned this – you can do everything right and still be misunderstood. Some people want to be offended. Some people filter everything through hurt. And you know what? That’s not your burden to carry. Your responsibility is to speak truth in love and trust the Holy Spirit to do the rest.
Communication in Relationships
This plays out in every relationship. My husband and I had totally different communication styles when we got married. I grew up in a family that talked through everything. He came from a family that avoided conflict. So when I thought we were just working through something, he thought we were fighting. We had to learn how to meet in the middle – how to listen before reacting, and how to speak in a way the other person could actually hear.
Communication Is Stewardship
And that’s really what coaching is too. It’s learning to steward your words. Because as online Christian coaches, we don’t just teach – we communicate transformation. We call people higher. And sometimes that means saying hard things. But when you’re walking with the Holy Spirit, He’ll show you how to say it, when to say it, and what tone to use.
Here’s the bottom line, friend. Communication is stewardship. The way you speak reflects how you carry your calling. If you communicate with love, order, and confidence, you’ll build trust and connection. If you communicate with fear, confusion, or pride, you’ll repel the very people you’re called to serve.
The Kingdom Shift
So ask yourself today – am I a clear sender? Am I a humble receiver? Do I speak to understand, or just to be right?
Because when you get this right – when your heart, your tone, and your message align – everything shifts. You stop feeling misunderstood. Your marketing starts landing. Your message starts carrying power. And the people you’re called to serve? They finally hear your heart.
And that, my friend, is what Kingdom communication looks like.
