Hey there ladies! Today, we are diving deep into something that I know so many online business coaches and entrepreneurs struggle with—self-discipline. I have seen too many Christian women set out to build their online business with big dreams and God-given visions, only to get stuck in patterns of inconsistency, distraction, and self-sabotage. And listen, if you want to build a successful online coaching business, you HAVE to get serious about self-discipline.
As a Christian Life Coach and Christian Business Coach, I have worked with hundreds of women in a high-ticket capacity and let me tell you—I have heard ALL the things. The excuses. The reasons they don’t take action. The lies they tell themselves. The victim mindset that creeps in, the lack of resilience, and the “let me try yet another program, but never follow through” cycle.
At the end of the day, here’s the hard truth–no one is coming to save you—except Jesus, of course! If you want to actually build the online coaching business God has called you to, you have to take action.
And that’s why today, I’m giving you five powerful ways to build self-discipline while launching, growing, and scaling your business. These are the things that have helped me stay the course and build a faith-based online coaching business that brings in consistent six and seven figures—without burnout, without sleazy marketing, and without ever compromising my values.
1. Let Your Yes Be Yes, and Your No Be No
This is a BIG one, ladies. I see too many Christian women coaches flailing in the wind, tossed to and fro, constantly second-guessing their decisions. “God told me to do this!” they say…and then…it gets hard. Then suddenly they start thinking, “Oh, maybe God is leading me in another direction.”
No, girl. Finish what you start.
I thank the Lord that my parents held me accountable growing up. The bible even speaks to this! 2 Timothy 1:7 talks about the need for a sound mind; other translations have self-control or self-discipline in this passage. My parents instilled this principle and pushed me to follow through in sports and commitments, and that foundation has been a game-changer in business. If you want to build a coaching business that actually succeeds, you have to stop giving up when things get tough.
We’ve been testing an accountability bonus inside one of our coaching programs, and do you know what we’ve found? Most women are simply not doing what they said they would do.
This is SO simple, you guys. One of the biggest reasons I’ve been successful? I do what I say I am going to do. Period. It’s not always easy, but it’s that level of integrity and discipline that sets apart the women who thrive from the ones who stay stuck.
2. Focus on Accomplishing 1-2 Big Things a Month
How do you eat an elephant? One bite at a time.
Too many women try to do five big things at once—and what happens? They get overwhelmed, nothing gets done, and they quit.
If you want to grow a successful Christian coaching business, you need to focus on one or two big priorities per month and actually execute them. Maybe this month, you’re working on creating your high-ticket coaching offer. Maybe next month, your focus is learning Facebook ads.
If you’re constantly running around in circles, switching from one thing to the next, you’ll never gain traction. Instead, break it down into bite-sized goals, execute, and THEN move on to the next thing.
3. Get Really Good at One Thing at a Time
Building an online business is like a video game. You don’t get to skip to the final level—you have to master one step at a time.
I see too many coaches trying to do everything at once—launch a membership, start a podcast, run ads, do live events, create multiple offers—when they haven’t even gotten traction on ONE thing yet.
When I started my photography business, I got really good at SEO. That’s how my business was found on Google.
When I moved into my online coaching business, I got really good at launching and Facebook ads.
Each step built upon the last, but I didn’t try to do it all at once. Mastery matters. So instead of trying to be everywhere at once, choose one skill, one system, or one strategy, one (fill in the blank) —and go all in until you master it.
4. Stop Falling for Shiny Objects
Ladies, listen up—shiny object syndrome will destroy your online business.
I saw this firsthand at our Costa Rica retreat. There was this opportunity to go see baby turtles hatch, and all the women got so excited. But I had to step in and remind them—if we do this, it will disrupt the entire itinerary. We evaluated what would have to be eliminated, sacrificed, and determined that we would stay with our original plan.
That moment turned into a joke “Shiny Turtle Syndrome,” but it’s exactly what so many business owners do. They get distracted by new ideas, new programs, new strategies—and they completely abandon what they were already working on.
I see women invest in course after online course, business coach after business coach, and yet they never actually implement and refine one thing all the way through. They try something once, it doesn’t work, and they move on instead of testing, tweaking, and improving.
If you want real success, you have to stay the course. Stop chasing shiny objects and commit to seeing things through.
5. Work on Your Online Business Every Day (Monday-Friday)
If you want to build a six-figure online coaching business, you need to be IN it every single day. That doesn’t mean hustling 24/7, but it does mean you are consistently taking action.
And let me be clear—I’m NOT talking about random “busy work.” I’m talking about showing up, building relationships, making offers, and actually doing the work that moves the needle.
If you’re serious about building an online coaching business, here’s what you should be doing every day:
✔ Attending coaching calls.
✔ Watching trainings and implementing.
✔ Posting applicable content and building relationships.
✔ Creating an offer and refining your messaging.
✔ Selling and making offers consistently.
Think of it this way–if you want to lose weight, you have to eat, drink, and sleep that goal. The same goes for business. If you keep setting it down for a week, that week turns into months—and suddenly, you’ve lost all momentum.
No One Will Build Your Coaching Business for You
At the end of the day, no one is going to build your coaching business for you.
I tell my clients this all the time—I CANNOT want your success more than you do.
I wish I could go build your online business for you. I really do. Because I know that so many of you are wildly talented, anointed, and called to do big things in the Kingdom. But I can’t create your vision for you.
That is YOUR responsibility. You have to show up, put in the work, and steward what God has given you.
So ask yourself—are you truly committing to your calling, or are you letting a lack of self-discipline keep you stuck?
