Oh man, ladies! Have you ever felt like you’re building an online business that’s not quite you, or you’re struggling to balance faith, strategy, and calling? Well this is your permission slip to stop doing things the world’s way and step fully into being a set-apart Christian CEO. I’ve walked this road, and I get how messy and beautiful it can be all at the same time.
We are not here to chase trends. We are not here to build someone else’s business model…just because it’s working for them. We are called to build with the Lord—for the Lord—and that means doing things differently.
I Didn’t Start in the Faith-Based Space
Let’s rewind for a minute. I didn’t start out with a faith-based business. I ran a photography business for years. Yeah, I had a nice Bible verse on my website, but that was it, I was mostly in secular circles, doing what everyone else was doing. It wasn’t until 2020 that everything changed.
That was the year I fully surrendered. I let go of the world’s strategies and stepped into what God was calling me to. It was a painful change at the time. I had people turn on me…but that shift? That was when my business exploded. That’s when I started operating in full alignment.
I wish I would’ve done it sooner. If I could go back and tell 26-year-old Ashley, the girl just starting her photography business, anything—it would be this: stop building someone else’s dream and build the thing God actually told you to build.
This Isn’t Just Business—It Is Ministry
We are ultimately building for something so much greater. We’re not just launching offers and posting on Instagram. We are helping set people free through what we do in our online businesses. Whether you’re a coach, course creator, ministry leader, or service provider—there’s something powerful about bringing a solution that helps people solve a problem.
As an online business coach, I help women get unstuck in their businesses. I show them how to market, sell, launch, and scale. And that’s ministry. It really is. The work you do? It’s not small. It’s not random. You are making an eternal impact—and that is the most fulfilling thing in the world.
Ladies, there’s something so powerful about the peace that comes when you finally look at your business as an extension of your calling.
Faith First, Strategy Second
We have to surrender our plans to the Lord. That’s the tension, right? Because it’s tempting to want to control everything. But when you’re building as a set-apart CEO, you learn that this dance between faith and strategy is dynamic—and hard.
I’ve been doing this entrepreneur thing since 2013, and it doesn’t get easier. But it does get deeper. We think surrender means inactivity. Some of y’all are using prayer as a scapegoat to avoid taking responsibility. You’re waiting for a lightning bolt from heaven when the Lord already gave you a green light.
I’m a doer. So it doesn’t resonate with me when women sit in indecision for months or years. If God’s called you to it, stop hesitating and start moving. He will help “course correct” along the way if it is needed.
Sometimes I think we put way too much emphasis on waiting. We let fear slow us down, and we miss out on the blessings God wants to pour out for us and those impacted by our businesses. I genuinely believe the Lord wants to bless both directions if your heart is aligned with Him. Years ago a friend of mine referred to God’s Kingdom as a playground. She basically was saying that God has a variety of ways to accomplish something and it takes each of our specialties, our businesses to “do the thing”…I think of it this way—you don’t have to sit on the swing if He’s inviting you to run free.
You Don’t Need to Compromise Your Values to Be Visible
The truth is, it’s tempting to look around and copy what everyone else is doing. Live launches, evergreen funnels, DM strategies…and hey, I teach marketing—I love all that stuff! But if you’re not careful, you’ll end up building someone else’s business instead of walking out your own anointing.
You were called for something specific. And to get clarity on that, you have to shut off the noise, surrender your business regularly, and check your heart. It’s so easy to fall into patterns that feel good or give us fast results. But those things don’t build lasting legacy.
The world says hustle. The world says compromise. But as Christian business coaches, we live differently and we do business differently. We’re not here for shallow success. We’re here for eternal fruit.
Build Wealth That Impacts Generations
One of the most beautiful things about building a set-apart online business is the ability to create generational wealth—not just money, but the wealth of values, work ethic, and a God-honoring lifestyle.
Because of my online business, our family can travel, homeschool, and work from a place of rest. We’ve invested in real estate and built a life of freedom, and I don’t say that to brag—I say that to show you what’s possible.
My kids see me work hard. They see me steward well. And they’re learning that you can build a life of integrity without conforming to the world.
Even more than the finances, we’re passing down wisdom. We’re passing down the kind of legacy that teaches them how to integrate faith into every area of life—education, business, family, all of it.
Hard Truth: This Isn’t Always Easy
Let’s be real. You’re going to have hard clients. People will steal from you. Employees won’t always tell the truth. You’ll get burned. This isn’t some fairytale business model. This is real life.
But when you’re walking with the Holy Spirit, you learn how to navigate those situations with both grace and strength. You hold boundaries, but you lead with love. You speak the truth, but you stay soft. And that’s what makes you different.
We Are Called to a Higher Standard
Being a set-apart CEO means you don’t conform to the world. You renew your mind. You press into what God is doing, even when it doesn’t make sense. You stop looking for validation and start standing in identity.
I love Romans 12:2—it reminds us to be transformed by the renewing of our mind so we can actually discern God’s will. That’s our blueprint, ladies. That’s how we test, approve, and step forward with clarity.
You don’t need to chase culture to win in business. You just need to stay rooted in His Kingdom.
